Irini Tsiodra is a post-doctoral researcher specializing in experimental atmospheric chemistry, with focus on the measurement, characterization and ambient exposure assessment of highly toxic organic pollutants. She received a B.Sc. degree in Chemistry (2015), a M.Sc. degree on Environmental Sciences and Engineering (2017) and a Doctorate in Environmental Chemistry (2023) from the University of Crete – Department of Chemistry. Her Ph.D. thesis analyzed the variability, sources and health impacts of carcinogenic polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons (PAHs) and their atmospheric processing products, highlighting the importance of intensive residential biomass as a direct consequence of the Greek recession. She has more than 10 years of experience in analytical research and development with expertise on gas chromatography mass spectrometry. She has been a member of Environmental and Chemical Processes Laboratory (ECPL) since 2014. During 2017-2023 she was an affiliated member at the Center of Studies on Air quality and Climate Change (C-STACC) in the Foundation for Research and Technology Hellas / Institute of Chemical Engineering Sciences (FORTH/ICE-HT). In 2023 she joined the Institute for Environmental Research & Sustainable Development (NOA) as a research fellow.

Research Interests:

Environmental Organic Chemistry, Gas Chromatography/Mass Spectrometry, Air Quality, Exposure and risk assessment, Health Impact Assessment, Chemical Composition, Atmospheric Chemistry, Source Apportionment, In-situ measurements
