The National Observatory of Athens (NOA) conducts atmospheric pollution measurements in Attica since 1970. In 1996 NOA acquired its first mobile station and since 2010 the Mobile Air Quality Monitoring Station is operational. The Mobile AQMS is hosted in a mobile platform (van), and is continuously upgraded. It provides flexibility in monitoring equipment transport around Greece. In collaboration with local authorities, state and private bodies, who determine the research needs, the Mobile AQMS is used to monitor and report on atmospheric pollutants and meteorological parameters e.g. during industrial incidents, significant forest fires etc.. The on-board equipment includes a set of gaseous analyzers (CO, NO, NO2, SO2, O3), particulate matter and black carbon monitors (PM10, BC and its BCff-BCwb fractions) and a meteorological station.
