About the hackathon:
The Copernicus Thessaloniki Hackathon is organized in the framework of the Copernicus Hackathon Programme, a brand-new initiative financed by the European Commission. The aim of the event is to bring together developers, tech enthusiasts, entrepreneurs, startuppers topic-specific experts and other creative minds who will take advantage of the Copernicus Earth Observation data and services and generate new ideas and applications that will address every day environmental and societal challenges. The main thematic area of the Copernicus Thessaloniki Hackathon is:
“Sustainable solutions for a sustainable way of living”
Over the course of a weekend participants will be invited to think of a sustainable solution either for the urban and rural areas, or the aquatic and atmospheric environment and to develop a prototype using the Copernicus data and/or services. Experts with various backgrounds will also join the event as mentors in order to provide participants with guidance and support during the development of their ideas.
Prizes:
- 3.000€ first winning team and a seat in the Copernicus Accelerator
- 1.500€ second winning team and a seat in the OK!Thess Accelerator
- 700€ third winning team
Additionally, there will be "special" prizes, which will be given to the teams by hackathon’s supporters, such as seminars, online courses, etc.
