Konstantinos Dimitriou is a physicist who completed his undergraduate studies and received his BSc degree from the Department of Physics of the University of Ioannina in Greece in 2006. Afterwards he followed the postgraduate program in Meteorology Climatology and Physics of the Atmospheric Environment of the same department and he obtained his MSc degree in 2009 and his PhD in 2013. His PhD thesis was focused on PM related air quality in Europe and included the statistical analysis of large datasets of PM10, PM2.5 and gaseous pollutant concentrations from the monitoring network of 20 major European cities. The primary work contained in the PhD thesis was associated with long range transport of particulates however an estimation of health risks associated with air pollution levels in the studied areas was also attempted, by the use of air quality indexes. Up to now Konstantinos has participated in 31 published papers in international peer-reviewed scientific journals and his h-index is equal to 14. In 28 of these publications he was the lead (first) author. He is a fluent user of the English language, a native speaker of the Greek language and a moderate user of the French language. Konstantinos is also a reviewer for 12 international scientific journals and since 2021 a member of the Editorial Board of the MDPI journal Sustainability.
Research Interests:
