Born in Thessaloniki, Greece. Holds a Bachelor Degree in Chemistry (Aristotle University of Thessaloniki, 2006), a M.Sc. degree in Polymer Chemistry and Technology (2008) in the Chemistry department of the same university and a Doctorate in Environmental Chemistry (University of Crete, 2014). She is systematically involved in air quality research since 2009. Her field of expertise is atmospheric aerosol and, more specifically, the chemical analysis and measurement of optical and chemical properties of atmospheric particulate matter. She has a great experience in setting up, calibrating and operating analytical instruments and processing relative data, in order to study qualitatively and quantitatively the chemical species of aerosol and identify their specific source categories and cases of interest on dust and biomass burning events and their impacts on climate. During her PhD she was responsible for the chemical analysis of sampled aerosol through Sunset, TOC, IC and ICP techniques. She joined IERSD/NOA in 2011, as a core member of the in-situ measurements group, responsible for the aerosol sampling applications and the subsequent analytical techniques of HPLC, GC, AAS, PILS and semi-automated system for Reactive Oxygen Species (ROS). She has participated in 8 research projects, published 13 articles (8 as first author) in international peer-reviewed journals / book chapters and 34 conference abstracts. Her work is currently cited by more than 100 scientific publications.
Research Interests:
Air Quality, Atmospheric Chemistry, Physical, Optical and Chemical properties of aerosols, in-situ measurements, climatic role of particulate matter
