Holds a Bachelor Degree in Biology (Aristotelian University of Thessaloniki, 1982), a M.Sc. degree (Kapodistrian University of Athens, 1987) in Oceanography, a M.Sc. degree (School of Public Health of Athens,1990) in Public Health, & a Ph.D (University of Aegean, School of Marine Science and NCSR Demokritos, Athens, 2001) in the field of coastal sustainable management. Her thesis was in the field of “Ecological study of dominant bivalves in Euboikos bay” and it was evaluated as excellent. In parallel, she was working as an expert (permanent staff) in fisheries policy and coastal sustainable development in the Ministry of Agriculture Development & Fisheries, for more than 20 years. She had the responsibility of designing and implementation of many national and European programs in the fisheries and marine sector. During 1995-6 she had an affiliation for training and specialization with School of Fisheries in UW in Seattle, WA and Haskin lab in NJ as a HHH fellow & a Fulbright scholar. Since 2015, she has worked on aerosol monitoring at NEO station in Pylos and in relevant activities and research programs of IERSD. She participated in some research projects on coastal management: EU-SMT BEQUALM, ring test (RT2001),“Phytoplankton counting and bio-volume estimation”& EU-STRATEGY (2002-2004): “Monitoring of toxic algae distribution in Mediterranean” voluntary work on monitoring algal blooms in Greek waters for the lab of hydrobiology of the institute of biology of the NCSR “Demokritos”. Moreover in environmental projects such as: 2018 SMart URBan Solutions for air quality, disasters and city growth, 2017, LIFE Prespa Waterbirds (LIFE15 NAT/GR/000936).
Research Interests:
Marine ecology, coastal management, bioaerosols and aerosols.
